Recent Empties

I have acquired a little stash of empty containers from the new products I have been trying so I thought I would give some impressions on them and some alternative buys.

Acure Leave-In Conditioner: I love Acure’s hair care line. It is super affordable and very clean. I picked up this leave in to mostly use for my daughter. She also has curly hair but it is quite unruly. I like to sure a leave in as a detangler since her hair needs so much moisture and kids detanglers? No thanks. This one didn’t work so great on my hair, I didn’t notice much of a difference. I could take or leave it. For my daughters hair I would have liked this to be a little more nourishing. It is light and doesn’t weigh your hair down. So if you are looking for just a little more added moisture without weighing down your hair this could work well for you. I started just using it as extra nourishment for my hair after the shower. This retails for $10 but on their website I saw it for $5!

Shea Mositure Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Styling Mousse: As mentioned numerous times my hair is fine and thin. I have been playing around with products that will give me volume but also hold my curls shape through the day. I loved the way this smelled. I didn’t realize how little this worked for my hair until I tried another hair mousse by Giovanni. So as much as I liked  the smell I didn’t notice it did much for my hair compared to other similar products. This retails for $9.99 at target and $11.49 at Ulta.

Odacite Pure Elements Green Tea + Lemon Grass Serum Concentrate: I got this bottle in an Art of Organics box. I love this box because its $39 a month, you don’t have to subscribe monthly, you can get one box if you want. I also enjoy this box because you get great high end luxury products that I usually wouldn’t buy or even know about. This is a radiance booster oil that you add to  your moisturizer, 2-3 drops. I loved this products. It made a noticeable difference on my skin. It was more even and more hydrated. This retails for $39 for 5 mls which isn’t an outrageous price and I really think it is worth it if you want to try it out, the results were very nice. However I have recently picked up Acure Organic’s Seriously Glowing Facial Serum. This one retails for $20 for 30 ml and so far I am really loving it.

Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser: I received  this is my very first Petit Vour Box that I got as a Christmas gift. Also a great box to try, you get a lot more sample sizes and it is only $15 a month so it does make a great gift. Anyways, this cleanser was really great! Charcoal is great for absorbing impurities. I  used this as a face wash but it can apparently be used all over your body. This very mildly lathers and doesn’t strip your skin. I loved how my face felt after using this cleanser. This is on the pricier side as a sample size of 1 oz is $10. I really enjoyed using this and I would be interested in using it as a body wash. I did really love this product but for now I am using the Nourish Organic’s Moisturizing Facial Cleanser that is $15 for 6 oz. It leaves my face feeling the same and is a much more affordable buy.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara: When realized how bad some of the makeup I was using actually was, I ran to Target to see what I could replace right away. Physicians formula is referred to as a ‘gateway clean brand’ as it is not the cleanest but it is a lot better than other brands you find in the beauty aisle. I picked  up this mascara and at first it seemed ok. It needed to apply a lot of layers but I was fine with that. The problem came when I took it off, my eyes were burning!!! I have found in ‘clean’ mascara this happens to my eyes to some degree (I’m trying to figure out what it is) but this was unreal. So needless to say I will not be repurchasing this. I have a cleaner mascara now that I have switched to and enjoy, it’s the W3ll People Expressionist mascara. This is double the price of Physcian’s Forumla but in my opnion well worth the upgrade.

Most of these are things I guess I won’t be repurchasing. I like trying the same type of product in different brands to compare. I have replaced all these items with better buys for me. Its been interesting to see how certain products compare. Do you have any empties this month? Will you be repurchasing anything you tried?

  1. Yes unless a product is overwhelmingly great I usually feel the need to try something else! What I’m rebuying (after my recent empties) is Evolvh leave in conditioner, Josh Rosebrook Hydrate Accelerator, and Kiss My Face shaving cream 😊

    1. I haven’t tried that leave in but I’m glad you mentioned it. I got the samples and loved the shampoo but wasn’t sold on the condition for the price point. I’m with you, I do go back to the Nourish organic face cleanser, I’ve rebought 3 times now but now that I’m noticing more brands I’m anxious to try new stuff. I keep telling myself, not before you finish the product you have!πŸ˜† doesn’t always work. What is the Josh rosebrook for? Hair?

      1. Oh nice! I’ll have to look that one up once I’m done with the sprays I’m currently using. I assume it’s not typical to spray your face with several sprays at once πŸ˜†, I probably could.

      1. How is it applied? On dry or wet hair? I recent tried one by Shea Moisture and I didn’t like it at all, I put it on wet per the directions. Then someone told me to try it dry…..amazing!

      2. Interesting. I apply the Josh Rosebrook’s Lift to damp hair and that works fine. I have also recently tried the Rahua Voluminous Hair Spray and the Yarok mousse and they work really well for thickening/volume. I might even like them more than the Josh R. one since that can get a little sticky if you use too much.
